Bison burger

Yesterday I had a bison burger for lunch at a local restaurant… as did Kathie, Linda (my sister), and my mom. We were all quite impressed! If you believe what the internet says, bison is extremely good for you, has almost no fat or cholesterol, can cure cancer (woo hoo!) and bring world peace. Mainly though, it tasted really good! I’m only a little bit of a hamburger snob (but a full-fledged pizza snob and bagel snob), and I’ll definitely be adding this to my list of foods to eat again.

Bison can be good — we had some in Montana while on vacation last August and enjoyed it quite a lot. I also had a bison (or buffalo) burger in MN last March after visiting my parents (stopped at a truck stop that was owned by a buffalo rancher). I’d be curious to hear where you found them around here — it seems kind of unusual for the oh-so-refined east coast palate. :)

The meat is definitely rumored to be better for you than beef, with higher protein content, less fat, etc. Still, it’s red meat, so I’m sure someone, somewhere has complaints. I always wonder how much of those benefits are real vs marketing hype.

Uh, duh – guess I should have clicked the link! :) Nice to see you supporting old school TW people by visiting ol’ Ted Turner’s restaurant! :)
